Interesting perspective for choosing a new/existing computer/OS

531647 2007-03-10 17:54:00 My guess is: Fashion = Vistas nice little aero style. Logic = Vista isn't at the best it can be, XP is. --Wolf-- (128)
531648 2007-03-10 19:08:00 Thanks for the explanation although I would actually say that the Aero GUI was all gloss with no substance (poor, buisy design with inconsistently themed windows- my subjective opinion). I will however agree with the later part of your statement. :) You also left out the slow and over priced development stage ;) winmacguy (3367)
531649 2007-03-10 22:29:00 Yes well I was interested in the views of people who have tried it more than the ones that haven't.

As for hardware, don't need to spend money there right now as I have:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz E6600 CPU, Gigabyte 965P-S3 Motherboard, 1 GIG of Ram, GeForce 7600 GS 256MB Video Card (maybe that could be better), 320 GIG Sata Drive etc.

531650 2007-03-10 22:36:00 I think you could summarize the opinions by saying that Vista does work in an uninspiring kind of way - all missing drivers and non existant 3rd party software aside against XP which has been out since late 2001 and is therefore a widely used system with countless 3rd party hardware and applications. winmacguy (3367)
531651 2007-03-10 22:48:00 Ok it's time to decide whether to buy Vista

Be sure to check all your hardware is going to work on it, as not all manufacturers will be releasing drivers for vista, for all of their hardware. If you have any hardwaare older than 3-5 years it is likely that there may not be a vista driver for it. The most economical way to get visa is to buy it oem with a new computer, and because you need a fast computer to run it, it is possibily something you should hold off on getting until you are ready to replace you current computer. Remember that Vista is only an operating system and it doesn't really have too many advantages over xp at the moment for most users.

531652 2007-03-10 23:33:00 Ok it's time to decide whether to buy Vista as a birthday present to myself (sad I know). For anyone who has it already, how well have you found it works with other software? Would you recommend going for it now or waiting for a while yet?

I'll surely recommend you to go for it. It is an excellent piece of art in the OS over XP Home. Of course, no man is perfect; so take it easy if something is found to be inadequate.

I take it by your favourable review you are meaning that Vista qualifies art and function combined?
