| 532180 | 2007-03-11 22:09:00 | a friend recently updated his cmptr - Windows XP home & MS Works,8, included. Two small irritants - 1. whenever Outlook Express loads it includes "user Name" & "Password" panel. Its easy enough to hit Cancel, then he just continues without a problem, but he'd like to suppress or turn off the requrement to insert User Name/Password. 2. whenever he copies a file from the HDD to a CD, it goes thru 2 steps - first, file is "waiting to be written to CD" then he has to "write it".Is this just a feature of the drive (spec says "16X DVD+/- RW" ? Or does the cd (its CD-RW) have to be formatted or something first? |

| 532181 | 2007-03-11 22:35:00 | the files waitin to be written to cd are literally that......the system has no idea if you are ready or not to start writing them so it waits till you tell it to start. Firstly you tell the system which files you want (the files waiting to be written) then you tell it to action them (write the files to cd) it's a simple logical progression | drcspy (146) | ||

In OE go to Tools > Options and remove tick from Send and receive messages at Startup. |
