I want to rename a lot of different jpeg files which currently have random and often meaningless names.

Any recommendations for a simple, free (no 20 day trials etc) utility which will allow me to select a group of files and rename them all

eg starwars001 through to starwars067

cheers

Picasa is another easy to use free program that will do what you want.

You can do it in Windows Explorer in XP except that it will end up starwars(1) to starwars(67)...
Select all the images, Press F2 ;), or right click and select rename. Type the new name including the extension if its showing and press Enter...

533079 2007-03-15 23:50:00 Thanks guys

Downloaded a few and are checking them out. Also discovered that FastStone image viewer can do batch renaming although it doesn't seem to have a preview of the changes before you make them :'(

Cheers

533081 2007-03-16 00:39:00 I also use Irfanview. I have other programs that do the job, but that is the main one I use. supergran (108)
