| 533054 | 2007-03-15 00:14:00 | Am running XP Pro..... Have got sounds from speakers when running games, and a Tutorial CD. I cannot get sound when playing an audio CD. I downloaded Windows Media 11 as my old version appeared to have problems. The installation was successful and indicates that the CD is playing through but there is no sound. Two sample tracks downloaded with the program do the same thing - i.e. indicate that they are running but no sound. Am I overlooking something simple ? |

Windows Media Player 11 mute and volume (horizontal slider bar) are independent of the Windows Volume Control setting. Seeing as we are talking about Yucky Windows Media Player, I would recommend you check the Library Options setting as it seems to default to 'Delete files from computer when deleted from library'. This can cause some screaming, shouting and swearing if you actually wanted the file, but just didn't want it in your Media Player library. I had a friend who inadvertently lost all her music this way - she was not very happy. |
