532865 2007-03-14 06:29:00 Seems the integrated audio on my motherboard has packed up!

I was playing Day of Defeat: Source, and the audio started to go "scratchy". I thought the speakers had packed up, so I changed to headphones, same result. I changed to the front audio socket, same result. Then the audio stopped completely.

I un-installed and tried to re-install the audio drivers (they are the latest drivers), but an error message came up saying "VIA Ac97 Audio Chipset is not enabled on this system ! Please enable it first on the BIOS then run this setup again". Yes it actually says "on the bios".

I restarted and checked the BIOS, and it is enabled.

Any ideas?

532866 2007-03-14 08:00:00 Um, this may sound silly, If your using a USB joystick, disconnect it first then try reinstalling your the drivers for the chipset. You might try uninstalling the joystick.

See, I told you it sounds funny...
But I've seen the problem before. The scratch sound was caused by the driver for the joystick (or so it seemed) and a reinstall of that driver fixed it.

Good luck, and sorry if this didn't help.
