532820 2007-03-15 04:12:00 I just reformatted my whole computer... about a week ago... This problem did occur after installing .net 1.1 and 2.0 and the latest driver for my Radeon 9550. However I was not getting this problem before I installed those three pieces, instead I was getting a Blue screen (more frequently) and I only installed those to try and fix the blue screen problem (which it did) but now I have freezing screens instead :( Idiotica (11950)
532821 2007-03-15 04:15:00 How do I run a diagnostic on the hdd????

And how can I get something to monitor the heat?

I run the product HDD Health available from panterasoft.com to monitor hard drive heat. HDD Health works well for ATA drives but is no good for SCSI drives. I haven't tried it on SATA drives but assume it should be OK.

HDD heat build up is a major issue for large capacity drives in laptops & other compact computing devices. In a normal desktop/tower PC I would expect the HDD temp to be no higher than 35 degrees unless you are hammering it very hard or it's a really hot day. My laptop consistently runs in the low 40s but will get up to about 60 degrees or higher at times. Running drives in the 60 degree range is just asking for trouble ....

Are you sure you got the right drivers for the version of Windows youre using??

If XP I take it the drivers u downloaded, and installed were called:

7-2_xp_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_41238.exe?

And u did get the drivers from the ATI site right? Not from the Windowsupdate site?

If Windowsupdate, thats your prob.

I doubt you'll have SCSI, ATA has the grayish cable for the hdd / cd cables, and SATA is a thin red cable.

So, WHERE did u get the videocard drivers from?
