| 533943 | 2007-03-18 03:19:00 | Win XP SP.2 fully updated. Intel mobo D845BG, onboard audio adapter Intel 82801(M)ICH(2). For the first time ever I am trying to use the inbuilt sound recorder (Start>All Progs>Accessories>Entertainment>Sound Recorder). Everything seems ok but the recorded sound amplitude is way to low. Adjusting the volume control has no affect. Found one supposed cure, open Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices click the Audio tag and in Sound Recording boost the mic using the Advanced settings. However Advanced is greyed out (not available) so where to from here? The mic performs aok on other non-pc hardware (e.g. tape recorder) and my logic tells me that even if the mic is faulty I should be able to access the settings:confused: Any ideas please? |

| 533944 | 2007-03-18 05:27:00 | If the microphone is not specifically for a PC, then it may not work properly. PC microphones of the 'Electret' type use a 5 volt bias. The 3.5mm stereo plug uses the centre ring for the 5volts from the sound card mic in socket, the tip is the mic 'live' connection, and the sleeve is ground. Edit: not sure why you cant access all settings |
