533208 2007-03-15 08:12:00 Evening all. Does anyone have a tweak for noisey phone lines? Clear tell me that is my problem, although I hear no noise at all on "audio". The problem surfaces in wet weather and causes the modem to drop connection every 30 seconds or so. It's driving me mental and totally precludes any meaningful surfing. It's a dial-up connection. I seem to recall seing a tip for this problem (PC World??) some time ago. Any clues? Thanks. bjf (11296)

533210 2007-03-15 17:57:00 That is plan A, but with 300m of wire 'twixt road and PC, something like this is bound to occur. Looking for some "insurance" against that sort of random event. Thanks. bjf (11296)

Do you happen to live on a farm? If so electric fences can cause interference. Dynalink put out an external rural modem.... or they did anyway.

533212 2007-03-15 18:20:00 This happened to me not long a go and im with xtra... I rang them up and we went through everything and they ended up saying that they will monitor our line for 2 days and see what is needed from there. They did that and 2 days later they called and said that they think they have fixed the problem..... I used to get a drop out every 5 minutes, but now i am lucky to get one 1 time in a week.

So i guess if you call Telecom as they are the main people, and get them to do something about. Remember be polite and be clear what your point is..

If its from the road Telecom needs to fix it. If its yours, run new cable and put it in a piece of plumbing pipe or similar so water doesn't get in.
