| 533536 | 2007-03-16 10:29:00 | It says everything, In order for you to connect to the internet you need a means of doing so,An ISP provides this, Sure you can become your own ISP but the econoimy of scale would kill you. The International Network or its more common term INTERNET is a pretty simple concept to grasp. Your question is like asking why do we need Power companies? To provide power to consumers, sure we all build a windmill in the backyard and be our own power company, But the scale of it would be crushing. You dont need to know how a turbine works or how many the power company has installed to understand the concept of what the business is for, and like wise with ISP's and their gear, If you cant grasp the basics then the detailed info will be meaningless. |
