533786 2007-03-17 04:34:00 How do I tell if my PC has a 2.0 or a 1.1 USB port. lloydallan (11827)
533787 2007-03-17 04:37:00 RTFM.

Or plug a USB2.0 device in and see what it says.

533788 2007-03-17 04:42:00 I don't have a FM. I raise the question because I want to know if an item I wish to purchase will run properly on my PC. Is there somewhere in the Settings I can readily check? lloydallan (11827)
533789 2007-03-17 04:55:00 what operating system you runnin ?........this info will help as there are MANY operating systems...... drcspy (146)
533790 2007-03-17 04:55:00 Look in Device Manager (Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager). Expand the Universal serial bus controllers listing and see if it has an "Advanced Host Controller". That indicates it is USB 2.0.

Alternatively, post what your motherboard make and model is.

533791 2007-03-17 05:06:00 I am running XP Home. There are several USB controllers listed including Generic USB hib, Intel (R) 82801FB/FBM USB Universal host controller -265a, and Intel (R) 82801FB/FBM USB Enhanced host controller -265c. If this is of no help where will I find my motherboard details. I am not terribly computer literate. lloydallan (11827)
533792 2007-03-17 05:31:00 'enhanced' means usb2.0 drcspy (146)
533793 2007-03-17 05:41:00 Thank you drcspy :) lloydallan (11827)
533794 2007-03-18 05:47:00 I don't have a FM. I raise the question because I want to know if an item I wish to purchase will run properly on my PC.

Then download it. I meant your motherboard manual - not whatever device manual.
