533620 2007-03-16 20:02:00 Hi ,
Is anyone having trouble reaching Hotmail at the moment.
Today when I tried, Firefox was timing out on me.
I noticed that the site it was trying to reach was "'login.live.com"'.
Wondering if Microsoft are changing accounts over to the new "'Live"' email
service ?
Anybody know ?

Thanks
Paul

533621 2007-03-16 20:49:00 Must be a general thing, i can't reach it either.

Bloody annoying, more fool me for using an @hotmail addy for my trademe correspondance.

533624 2007-03-17 04:37:00 Main Ihug email account for limited contacts I trust.
Gmail as my second email option, mainly for business I deal with and other contacts where I have a certain amount of trust
Hotmail as a legacy email option as I have had a account almost from when they
started, but still useful for one off dealings
Helps keep wonderful offers/spam out off the other two.

Thanks for those who replied, this mornings clich now has been fixed

533625 2007-03-17 05:16:00 yea i also keep a hotmail account purely so i can put down an email address when i don't really want to give out my gmail address. MSN also stopped working for my gmail for some reason.... motorbyclist (188)
533626 2007-03-17 05:29:00 Hotmail puts all Gmail's into the junk email bin unless you specify each "whoever@gmail.com" as a trusted person or they are in your address book, you can guess why. zqwerty (97)

I just tried it and it didn't put my gmail email into my junk email bin in hotmail?

533628 2007-03-17 10:43:00 Not if you appear in the Hotmail address book or you are in "safe".

I teach students how to use eMail sometimes and naturally I introduce them to Gmail. I get them to eMail me on my old Hotmail addy and they always appear in the junk eMail bin until I move them to the inbox and add them to the safe list. This is also talked about in quite a few places on the web, so it is not just me.

I understood that is was because MS knows that everyone who has a Gmail addy has the option to offer an addy to anyone who emails them back and MS was justifiably worried about that.

533629 2007-03-17 23:48:00 I don't think the amount of spam at an address has anything to do with whether it's a hotmail or gmail account, it's where you've distributed that address.

I have one gmail address overrun by spam (which it sorts very well I have to say), and a hotmail address with no junk mail at all.
