533585 2007-03-16 15:27:00 Hi, I recently removed some programs etc from my PC to aid its speed/performance.

However, I seem to have removed this driver and now I have no sound

I'm not particularly knowledgable when it comes to computer-related problems, so any help is much appreciated. I've done some searches and tried downloading one or two things but no luck.

Aha!...Have you tried the direct-from-the-horses-mouth approach?

Microsoft's Link (www.microsoft.com)

533587 2007-03-16 18:01:00 It sounds like u deleted their folders, not uninstalled them.

NOT a good idea if u did this. It'll screw more than the games up.

Uninstall programs in control add/remove programs

Since DirectX doesnt have a uninstall option.

533588 2007-03-21 19:37:00 Thanks, I tried the microsoft link but it said that directx was already installed, yet still I have no sound:( billbones (12010)
533589 2007-03-21 20:02:00 Find out what the model/brand of your motherboard is.

It might be the sound drivers that need to be reinstalled.

Still need help about 20+ days later?

Hmmm...

You can see your MOBO if you download and run Belarc Adviser (www.belarc.com)....print out the results for future reference and keep it somewhere safe as it contains a lot of info about your system...good for those "repairs" and such where you need a key or ID number.

You can always see the computer system and windows version by getting into your control panel and clicking on "System"...but that's not a whole lot of info...certainly not the keys and ID stuff you will eventually need BEFORE YOU WOUND YOUR SYSTEM.

533592 2007-04-17 14:11:00 Okay, thank you.. My motherboad is apparently.. 'Board: PACKARD BELL BV 1.0'.. I think. Any ideas as to what sound drivers I'd need?

Thanks for indulging a computer illiterate.;)

533593 2007-04-17 22:46:00 Umm is there a sticker or something on the case, with a model number??

Packard Bell BV 1.0 doesnt really tell us anything.

533594 2007-04-19 23:33:00 Hmm, there's quite a few sets of numbers, I'll rule out the product key.. Does '00045-830-007-817' mean anything? billbones (12010)
