534670 2007-03-21 00:42:00 I presume speedtest.net is an international site, in as much as someone in say, France, will get a local site to do their testing as a default? Is that right? rumpty (2863)

534672 2007-03-21 00:51:00 Um... not exactly... the site is HOSTED overseas, but the actual speed tests are done with what ever server in what ever location you choose, for us there is one in Auckland and now one in Napier.

Why don't you go to it and have a look

Yes.

It uses your IP to detect your location, and gives you the nearest hosts to you as default.

If that’s the case then there is something wrong with your computer as NZDSL speed test works fine for me & lot of other people.

Thanks. I was hoping that was how it is. It's fun to use too.

I want to get a relation in France to test their connection. They are not computer savvy, but should be able to manage speedtest.net, I hope.
