534557 2007-03-20 11:17:00 You could try killbox to delete that subborn pic.

http://killbox.net/

Tick the box where it says "Delete on Reboot" as this is the best option

534559 2007-03-20 12:43:00 Ive downloaded killbox. Ha .. Im not sure how to find the file, which sits on the desktop. Killbox only lets me delete the desktop, I cant see how to find a file on the desktop.
The white paper .. its tooooo heavy and full of root partitions and stuff .. I have no idea what they are, best I dont fiddle in that area.

I knew one day Id have you lot stuffed hehehe !!!!!

Cant fix either of them this time huh ... now thats not like you!

534560 2007-03-20 20:45:00 It must have been a jpg originally .. now, it just says FILE under type of file.
Its has 0 bytes. I did change the background to none .. and it didnt show up there at all.

Hijackthis has a file remover under the MISC section. Use that.

If you can see this file has zero bytes, then you should be able to find it via HJT when you use it.

Or do a scandisk/chkdsk. Could be a corruption thing.

Cant fix either of them this time huh ... now thats not like you!Yeah but you haven't answered the most basic question - have you set your desktop wallpaper to None yet? You said you did but your following sentence "and it didnt show up there at all." suggests you didn't. So have you now got a blank background, except for icons, on your screen?

534562 2007-03-20 23:36:00 May be you could try restarting your laptop in to safe mode first. Then locate that pic and delete it. In the control panel > Display > Desktop, there is a button near the bottom "customize desktop" you have a "general" and "web" tab. In web tab may be check to see if you have added it as a webpage on your desktop. kennie (10559)
534563 2007-03-21 10:38:00 PCTEK .. Thank you :) Did HJT this morning, could see the file. Asked it to delete it on reboot :( but it didnt work.

Greg .. Yes .. I changed the desktop to none .. and yes I had a blank background with the icons there, but the problem file wasnt showing.

Kennie .. It doesnt show up as a web page .. though your comment drew my attention to the fact that it is called Fwd_the solution to..

534564 2007-03-21 13:55:00 -Open a Command Prompt window.

-Close any open windows.

-Close explorer.exe there are two ways
-1--start > Turn off computer, hold down CTRL+SHIFT+ALT and press the CANCEL button.
-2--CTRL+ALT+DEL and End task in the process tab

-Go back to the Command Prompt window and change to the directory where the undeletable file is located in. At the command prompt type del <filename>.

-Go back to Task Manager, click File, New Task and enter EXPLORER.EXE to restart the GUI shell.

534565 2007-03-21 14:52:00 Greg .. Yes .. I changed the desktop to none .. and yes I had a blank background with the icons there, but the problem file wasnt showing.
But now that the image has gone, doesn't that suggest to you that the problem is solved?

534566 2007-03-22 06:46:00 Rob .. thats not something I could handle too well, not sure how to open command prompt window.

Greg .. what that means is that the picture didnt show up on the desktop, when I had the background as none. The *thing* is still there!! Wahhhh
