535379 2007-03-24 02:06:00 I have been sent a DVD with a large AVI file on it. I'm told it is a video.

What program do I need to run it?

Thanks.

535380 2007-03-24 02:08:00 WMP should play it. If its still an AVI file. Speedy Gonzales (78)
535381 2007-03-24 02:11:00 I would use VideoLan (http://www.videolan.org/) CYaBro (73)
535382 2007-03-24 04:04:00 Thanks. I d/led wmp and after I worked out what to do with my file I got it playing. Amazing! JJJJJ (528)
535383 2007-03-24 05:30:00 Not all AVI files will play in WMP, due to codecs etc.

This is why I would agree with CYaBro and use VideoLAN (VLC) Client.

AVI is just a 'container' that can contain a mix of different video / audio codecs, many of which dont auto-download by WMP when told to acquire codecs.

535384 2007-03-24 09:14:00 Downloading the k-Lite Codec pack solves WMP lack of codecs :) trinsic (6945)

You did not need to download wmp, as it already comes with windows ;)

Yes I did. Because I had deleted it when I installed windows.

I don'tisten to music or watch movies etc. But when someone sends me a "great video" I guess I must look at it. Before anyone asks , there were no females on it.
