| 535046 | 2007-03-21 23:59:00 | I'm using Forte Agent newsreader with the Tor "onion router" (to screen out the unpleasant "reverse DNS" which my ISP insists on broadcasting). I've recently installed Norton Internet Security, and when I collect recent postings from newsgroups, it alerts me that "Thank Soft Mask Surf Standard" is requesting outward communication. If I block the requested access, Tor cannot establish a route; it stops at the stage "we now have enough information to build circuits", but does not proceed to "Tor has successfully opened a citcuit". When I allow Thank Soft Mask...etc access, Tor works. Is this simply part of Tor that I've not been aware of before installling NIS; or is it something more sinister? NIS ranks it as "low risk". Oddly, I can find nothing about "Thank Soft Mask..." through Google. |

It lets you protect your identity online by masking the information related to your OS, browser, system language and IP address. The program also lets you clean your Internet usage information, which is accumulated in cache, forms and passwords, cookies, downloads history. You can change proxy or clean browser traces with one mouse click. Which is here (http://www.thanksoft.com/) I dont think it has anything to do with Forte Agent. |
