534939 2007-03-22 21:36:00 Thats 24 hours... You could have said it much nicer, and while I hate banning... it really wasnt necessary to respond in such a manner.

Good luck with getting it sorted.. SLI looks like a good 'upgrade' option in your case, lets hope it works out.

Chill.

LOL...Greg got owned!

534940 2007-03-22 21:43:00 Erh...asus site is sh*t, the page wont display. I would try reading the manual again following the instructions to the letter. SolMiester (139)

534942 2007-03-23 03:58:00 Isnt there a flap which switches the between 8 & 16x on those boards?...! mo, will check the manual....

no, the flap is on their older boards. this apparently it auto detecting, so all i have to do is enable it using the nVidia control panel.

problem is, it isn't detecting, in windows atleast.

534943 2007-03-24 09:01:00 my sli won't work:(

i have two identical asus geforce 6600gt plugged into my asus m2n sli deluxe motherboard (with 4*512MB RAM, AMD athlon64 3800, pci wifi card, dvd drive, floppy and sata hdd)

i've de-overclocked everything to factory, put the sli bridge on, and read the manual.

apparently to do sli i have to set both my PCI-E 16x slots to 8x, but i cannot find anywhere in the bios nor motherboard manual to do so, it just tells me it has to be that way. when i do as per the manual and go to the nvidia settings i get this. according to device manager and everest (which is too old to recognise my motherboard) i only have one 6600gt.

both cards worked fine mere minutes before installing them, and i have been happily running one for years now (about 2 months on this motherboard)

EDIT: and the psu is strong enoughIt seems that you got a problem with your motherboard here.
Does you motherboard say SLi Ready by Nvidia Or CrossFire ready? Or your motherboard chipset is not ready for SLi.
And the other thing is is that 6600GT is SLi Ready? Pretty weird to me if you can't get SLi.
My solution is have a look at your chipset. Different chipset have different abilities to overclock, lots of different settings for performance motherboards, etc.
Remember you won't get 16X SLi unless you got N680i Chipset motherboard, and some even have another PCI-E slot on the MOBO but it does not support SLi. OK? Got it now? Some of this features are for peformance & enthusiam class people and you can compare different motherboard makers motherboards for special class people i.e. bown/gold for normal, dark colour for performance or higher.

yes my motherboard is sli ready, at 8x.

without going into chipset details, the fact the instructions are in the manual is a hint

and yes, 6600gt is sli capable, just google it

so in short, yes i did infact check all my components were compatible and could both overclock and go sli before buying them.

i've begun looking at windows as the source of my problem... lets say my install may not be 'clean' (forums.pcworld.co.nz)

oh, and my mobo is black, dark enough? did you even look at the specs i posted?

oh, and my mobo is black, dark enough? did you even look at the specs i posted? Nope sorry didn't really read the specs. Pretty weird to me though. I got zero knowledge in overclocking. Hmm, I hope my $3000+ PC will over sqeeze the juice to overclock without blowing up.

it will if you got the right bits, i've spent around $1500 not counting monitor nor case, but i also chose parts i knew would handle overclocking well, even ram and gpu. as always it pays to have a decent psu too, and good cooling.

534947 2007-03-25 00:22:00 Motorbyclist... It seems that nobody here can help you with your problem (well so far anyway)

What about posting your question in a more specialised forum? Have you tried that?
A Graphics card forum or the likes?

I had a question a while ago in PressF1 that nobody could answer and I posted it in an AVS Forum and somebody gave me the answer right away.

Just a thought.

i was thinking the same thing, perhaps afterwards a could bring some sli experience back here with me too...

i think i'll sort out my windows install and then post elsewhere if i still have no luck.

last call for people who have actually got a working sli setup!
