535021 2007-03-22 13:28:00 Now I just need to capture this market and write a "restore your lost .dbx and .pst files that OneCare deleted" program, put it online for $15 a pop, and mass-market it! :D

I'll be rich I tell you! And I'll always remember the good folk here at PF1... ;)

535023 2007-03-23 05:27:00 I cannot get rid of the niggling feeling that maybe MicroSoft sometimes give the impression that they are not totally 100% dedicated to ensuring every user gets a life enriching, problem free, computing environment.
Giving the customers **** is not the same as giving a **** about the customers.
Please show me I'm wrong.

535024 2007-03-23 13:13:00 you'd think they'd check it doesn't interfere with their own software before public release wouldn't they?

i think MS getting into the anti-virus market is bad, bad news. historically MS has entered a market, destroyed the competition, and then sat on their hands without improving anything. that's how firefox came about, to which microsofts reply was to copy it's features and then send IE7 out as a windows update. if it wasn't for apple they wouldn't bother with new feature for their OSs, oh wait they stole all those new vista features from mac too

if this happens to antivirus programs it won't be long till virus writers learn to cripple the MS product. vista has already made it difficult for anti-virus producers, i wouldn't be surprised if onecare is only the beginning of a new MS anti-virus suite

Yeah but, but, but, but how will they find all the bugs for you?

look, an "antivirus" utility is bit smaller than an os like vista, and i mean, outlook?! come on!
