1412666 2015-12-13 02:23:00 Well let me start by saying I had no idea this was going to be so complex.

But let’s start by advising that I have tried this on three computers, one a laptop running Win 10, one a desktop running Win 7 and one a Desktop Running Win XP.

The Win 10 and Win 7 machine run the latest version of Video LAN Ver 2.2.1 and the XP machine 2.1.2.

None will play SWF files. None can even see them. You have to choose “All Files” to see them but they won’t play.

So, moving along, I tried Zoom Player Pro which played the files OK, but locked up the Win 7 machine which required an undignified shutdown. Don’t know what happened but I didn’t like it.

Oh dear, I then moved onto ALPlayer. Well this turned up a first because I couldn’t read all the agreement and I’m not one to just click everything, so that got the flick too.

I then looked at Pot Player but flagged that as there was no specification as to what it would do, just Spin.

By now I’m totally frustrated that such a simple matter could get so complex so I had a brainwave. I would look in my “Treasures Folder” which contains programmes going back to DOS. There I found a programme called “Flash Player” which dated back to the Win95 era. Well Faint Heart never won Fair Lady so I installed it on the Win10 laptop which is what I wanted and wouldn’t you know it, I get a message saying the programme was incompatible, would I like “trouble shooter” to fix it. You bet I would, and blow me down if it didn’t, so I now have an old Win 95 programme working fine on Win10! :clap

And guess what, the whole programme is a lousy 518KB.

However, if anybody comes up with another programme that plays swf files as well as flv files I’m still interested. :thanks

1412667 2015-12-13 02:40:00 Is there anyplace you can download the SWF files you are trying to play ?

That way if they can be tested on other machines, eg: Ours -- then it can be seen if its the players or possibly something on your own computers that is causing the problems.

The players may not be the problem.

Edited: Just found a couple of SWF files to test www.bannersnack.com Both ALPayer and Zoom played them fine on W10.

Interesting Wainui, both the test files you linked to had good video, but no Audio?

On the other hand, my files play fine with Flash Movie Player and Zoom Player but Zoom Player locks up the Win7 machine when I go to close it??????

(I note Flash Movie Player is still available from HERE (www.eolsoft.com) if anyone is interested.)

In the meantime I’ll try to remember how to operate Dropbox and upload a couple of files there to let you check.

However, I’m quite happy with Flash Movie Player which is working fine now on all my machines, so don’t go to any trouble.

:thanks

1412672 2015-12-13 23:11:00 And just for the records, Media Player Classic recommended by zwerty & gary67 plays the swf files good as gold. B.M. (505)
