| 1412545 | 2015-12-09 19:28:00 | This is not a question but a solution to the latest Microsoft stuff ups on their updates that's hitting thousands of users. ( mine included, all 5 PC) :annoyed: Yesterday Microsoft pushed out many Office updates. One in particular can screw up Outlook 2010 , it will open but always opens in safe mode only. SOLUTION: go into the Control panel, installed updates, locate and UNINSTALL KB3114409 Outlook now opens correctly. Now the funny bit: :D its supposed to give Administrators the option to never have Outlook open in Safe Mode :illogical BUT it does the exact opposite, it forces Outlook to open in safe mode. Disabling add-in doesn't do a thing. Some clever buggered has discovered : They haven't taken into account the Wow6432Node key for 64bit machines running 32bit Office. OOPS!!! that's a ****up and a half You can alter the reg keys to make it work, but MS will push out a fix ASAP ( one would hope) Article (www.reddit.com) Once uninstalled, manually run Windows updates and stop KB3114409 from installing again if it shows up - MS may have pulled it. |

| 1412552 | 2015-12-09 22:27:00 | Better solution... don't still use Outlook 2010, it's out of mainstream support :P Most small businesses just looove spending on IT , love it to bits :banana Reality is, try telling them to replace all The 2010's that they bought approx 3 years ago..... :tui: They could argue, not fit for use if they bought it early year 2013 & needs to be 'replaced' allready,( while typing this on his XP PC ) :) |
