1405465 2015-07-27 04:03:00 Well, over the years as you know, there have been government policies of 'hands off' in so many fields including Quality Assurance/Control, in fact there was positive encouragement for quality control to be carried out inhouse without external moderation.

We've seen it in Pike River, the dairy industry with the closure of MAF dairy testing labs, Fonterra, education with internal assessment, and so on..........and so on.......

Now it rears its head in prison management: "It also appears to do its own performance management reviews - and to tell the Department of Corrections when its pay should be docked. " :) what a joke.........

1405466 2015-07-27 08:05:00 What I think reprehensible is that the "fine" is not a fine at all.

As I understand it, the "fine" is deducted from a performance bonus, or reduces the bonus by the amount. It's not something Serco has to front up and pay out of cash flow (although that would be self defeating) or out of retained earnings.
