1405226 2015-07-23 21:29:00 Went on this aircraft carrier in Charleston South Carolina.
It is the USS Yorktown. Very interesting history, it was used to recover the Apollo 8 capsule, and also featured in the movie "Tora Tora Tora!"

1405229 2015-07-24 00:10:00 Interesting, a bit of Googling said she was named Yorktown in honour of the carrier Yorktown that was sunk during the battle of Midway in 1942. Terry Porritt (14)
1405230 2015-07-24 00:11:00 Thanks for that LL. We were at Pearl Harbour in May and as a result, bought Tora Tora Tora when we got home. Never knew she was in the film.

Well, this is the one I went on today, so I do not know which one you are referring to. There are several ships named Yorktown apparently.

1405234 2015-07-25 03:59:00 From Charleston, we drove 7 hours on down to Cocoa Beach, Florida and we are going to Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center tomorrow!
No, not going to Yellowstone, as we're way over on the Eastern Seaboard. Maybe another time.

That's the one:
"She is named after the Battle of Yorktown of the American Revolutionary War, and is the fourth U.S. Navy ship to bear the name. Initially to have been named Bon Homme Richard, she was renamed Yorktown while under construction to commemorate USS Yorktown (CV-5), lost at the Battle of Midway in June 1942.
