535765 2007-03-25 06:07:00 Say I hypothetically decrypted a DVD and stored the decrypted movie's folder on my hard and then wanted to burn that movie onto a DVD and watch it on the TV, would I need to convert the files (MPEG and BUP) into another format or change the file structure to allow me to do what I want.

All hypothetically speaking of course:D

535766 2007-03-25 06:17:00 No you wouldn't.
Hypothetically use DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter to load the files then burn them with Nero or the likes.

535767 2007-03-25 07:02:00 Sorry for high jacking but I think radium answered the question :). Now is it possible to convert a movie from avi to dvd format then burn to a cd instead of dvd? I didn't see much use in having 3gb movies when they could be cut down to 1gb and still be visually viewable. I might just put 4 movies on each dvd but I have so many left over cd-r's. trinsic (6945)

535769 2007-03-25 07:14:00 Sure, Though you would be authoring to VCD, and if you like watchable quality you would be best to span it over 2 cd's, But some movies are okay at 700mb.

Rip with program of choice, then encode to vcd. Burn resulting iso to CD.

Plays on most DVD players.

535770 2007-03-25 07:16:00 You could convert them from AVI to Mpeg then put them on to CD. the next problem you will face will be trying to fit them onto CDs as Mpeg files are quite large.

Nero 7 has this feature, but it will more than likely put the audio out of sync with the picture as AVI to Mpeg converson isn't that great-well in Nero anyway.

But you would be able to put them on CD and play them in your DVD Player if thats what you want.

You can't put DVD files onto a CD will not work .

But yes you could convert them to VCD or SVCD .
But trinsic was talking about AVI to DVD, which was what my answer was relating too .

Really I would just leave them as is Trinsic as any file conversion will mean some loss of quality and with blank CDs & DVDs being so cheap, I wouldn't compromise quality that much . :)

From memory, DVD decrypter just puts all of the files into a named folder. To put them on DVD, create two folders in the root directory of the DVD called VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. All of the files that DVD decryptor placed in the folder on the hard drive need to go into the VIDEO_TS folder on the disk. The AUDIO_TS folder remains empty.
See Here (www.imagef1.net.nz) for a screenshot of how the file structure should look.

535773 2007-03-25 08:03:00 you can put DVD files onto CD
it'll just be mini-dvd and if you look into your nero burning modes it's there

it uses the same structure and format but just that the size of the disc is limited to 700mb which won't be very useful for a whole movie
but you can have more interactive menu that dvds have plus the higher quality video

nearly any conversions from one format to another is possible
just that you might loose quality

535774 2007-03-25 08:17:00 My apologies. I had tried in the past to copy DVD files to CDs but I was never able too.
I knew that Nero has Mini DVD but I didn't realise that it was for putting DVD files onto CD.
