536151 2007-03-27 05:12:00 I’d be inclined to remove the HDD from the old computer and just slave it onto the new computer.

Then I’d copy across what I wanted and either leave it in the new computer or remove it once I’d finished, depending whether I wanted the 98 computer going again.

I know it sounds a little complicated but it’s probably in reality the easiest and quickest method of all. ;)

If you want instructions on how just ask. :D

Of course. Bloody obvious really. It's what I did with the computer I am using at this very moment. The old hard drive has stayed and is now used as my first backup. So why didn't I suggest this myself. Dunno!

536154 2007-03-28 04:05:00 I believe this is quoted on the box/instructions provided by Dick Smiths, not someones theory. Im sure if this is stated by the manufacturer of the hardware it's probably correct

It is someones theory. The one who wrote this nonsense on the box.
Like I said, thers Win98 1st ed PCs all over the place here using stuff they were told they couldn't.
But don't listen to me, I'm only a tech not a large chain store.
