2007-03-27 01:12:00 | I keep getting the error message, spooler subsystem app encountered a problem and needed to close and all my printers have disappeared. I typed it into google I am not really confident to do anything to fix the registry myself. Is is worth me buying one of those registy fixing programs or has anyone got any suggestions. The postings on the internet seemed to suggest the microsoft workaround doesn't work anyway. Thanks

2007-03-27 04:32:00 | What OS? I had issues of a similar nature on Win2k where deleting/cleaning and reinstalling print drivers didn't fix the problem. IIRC, I had to replace the print spooler/subsystem. But, as mentioned, that was on Win2k.

2007-03-27 04:46:00 | There appears to be no printers there any more and it will not let me do anything even install new, it just keep saying the spooler is missing, even when I restart is tells me something is missing and gives me the option to debug. I may have to take it somewhere, it's still under warranty but I don't know if this sort of thing would be covered. I tried a system restore to before the problem but it was still there. I am slowly tearing my hair out. Any suggestions of who I could take it to in Auckland before I end up bald. | Jacquie (9851) | |

2007-03-27 05:45:00 | Restore didn't work!!! Sounds about as persistent as the issue I had in Win2k and, it did involve editing the registry and deleting various files and folders. Sorry can't help with an Auckland tech. What brand, who did you purchase the PC off? Take it to them, though I doubt you'll get it on warranty.

2007-03-27 05:56:00 | So have you removed the old software? also get driver cleaner and remove all traces of the printers drivers. what error did you get? the EXACT error, to the word, take a screen shot even. | The_End_Of_Reality (334) | |
2007-03-27 05:57:00 | Whats the brand/model of the printer? Have u read this (support.microsoft.com) This (support.microsoft.com) Would either of the above apply to you?

2007-03-28 04:30:00 | Thanks for all your help, somehow it has fixed itself!!!. Someone suggested to me that after the spooler encountered the error a certain amount of times it may have reset itself. It came up the first time I restarted my computer today but has OK ever since. So am I making hay while the sun shines and printing everything I can. | Jacquie (9851) | |
