535865 2007-03-26 03:40:00 I removed using 'Add/Remove' the Nortons software. There are still some files in my C Drive, I presume that these were overlooked when the Uninstal program functioned.

Is it safe to simply delete them from the C Drive, or are there some hidden traps?.

535866 2007-03-26 03:46:00 I presume these are files located within the old Nortons Folder and are perhaps the updated files which the original program wasnt aware of?, so yes if the above true, you may delete the files. SolMiester (139)
535867 2007-03-26 06:12:00 I'd not rush in too quick to delete the files, especially when you don't provide the file names nor their folder location ... as could drastically alter the advice given to you. Okay, they probably are files you can remove but better to note their precise folder location and move them to a folder named something like "pending removal" or leave them where they are but marginally alter the file extension. Let them sit there for a week or so and then delete them when you have proved they aren't vital to some other program. This way you can easily move the files back (or restore their extension name) if they are vital. razzz (2672)
535868 2007-03-26 06:34:00 It is very typical for some files to remain, any files created during the normal operation of a program are technically "data" and should never be removed by an uninstall. That is where commonsense is applied, the approach above is a good safeguard.

Imagine if uninstalling Microsoft Word aso deleted all the documents you used Word to write! Hence most programs leave behind their "data" which is then over to you to clean up. In some cases the "data" is used when uninstalling a program and then installing an upgraded version, it applies your previous preferences.
