536947 2007-03-30 07:00:00 Hey guys, a colleague at work has asked me to help him set up a website for a business venture he will be starting soon. The site will deal with the sale of clothing in particular costumes for performing arts, movies etc.

At this stage online purchasing isn't important as he wants to get into the market before he starts e-tailing.

He asked me to have a look at this website which deal with hosting but I'm not too sure if it would be better to use a NZ based company (which I think would be better)

Have a look at their plans and see what you think is the best for a newly starting business or give me advice as to who I can go with for the hosting.

536948 2007-03-30 07:37:00 I would stay right away from Godaddy Hosting as he is looking for trouble if he was going to go with them, ( I have heard some bad stories on many online forum on Web hosting e.g.: www.webhostingtalk.com / www.webhostingtalk.com.au about there hosting, but getting a domain name like a .com/ .net etc.. with them are fine.)

I agree with you chiefnz he should use a NZ based companys & servers

I would recommend Web Drive www.webdrive.co.nz for his website (Yes the cost is a bit of a downside but its worth it!, they service is great & there server are nice & quick (ImageF1 is with them as well) & They have NZ based servers)

As far as US based servers go, avoid heavy over sellers. To put prices in perspective, look at the price of a dedicated server The Planet (http://www.theplanet.com). If the host is selling the resources of a dedicated server for $10 per month, you know that you are going to have problems. maccrazy (6741)

Greg sounds good to me. I'm on my rostered days off at the moment but will be in touch once I have sat down with this guy and explained things better.
