536804 2007-03-29 09:06:00 Download speed for Go Large is getting from bad to worst, as far as I'm concerned. There are 3 options for me:
1. stay with Go Large and bear the snail download.
2. Change to another Xtra plan (but will this correct the problem?) and
3. Change to another ISP - will this help with the poor download is another big question.

Also, I'm trying not to change my email address as far as possible - I'm at the cross road.

I think Xtra's ultimate aim is to get as many current Go Large subscribers out of this problem plan as possible and finally abolish this unlimited go large plan all together. I suspect that they are slowing down the speed on purpose so that people will get fed up with it and make a change!

Any one out there sharing my above views?

536805 2007-03-29 09:24:00 From what I am hearing from others (plus what I am experiencing with my own ISP who routes via Telecom) it doesn't seem to matter what plan you are on ... you will still end up with crap speeds when load is placed on the network, whether you are data capped or not. So until Telecom sort out the network issues etc, nothing is likely to change quickly.

In my case I am on a 2Mb download speed and depending on the time of day and the load I have seen my speed anywhere from 2Mb to 256k. :groan:

So in short, am not sure if changing plans or moving to another ISP (who connect thru Telecom) will improve things any better than what you currently experience.

However, if your option is to quit Telecom then I wouldnt be trying to convince you otherwise.

536806 2007-03-29 09:28:00 Hi Bkt,
Sorry old son - I am on xtra go large - I average 4.75 m/s , rarely do I get down below 1.4m/s and I have been higher at 5.35 m/s-- AND FOR A CHANGE I CANNOT COMPLAIN- my best results have come after I repositioned my router next to the phone jack and have a 12 meter ethernet cable to my computer.--the reverse of what I had ben using and I might add, complaining---not any more
This was part of major discussions many weeks ago-- all I had to do ( at an xtra IT advice- and boy it sure worked

That is a 70% loss in connection speed no matter how you look at it.

536809 2007-03-29 10:08:00 Hmm....I have noticed a drastic change in speed, especially when using torrents. Maybe your theory is right. It's telecom, after all. qazwsxokmijn (102)
536810 2007-03-29 11:03:00 Only if someone within telecoms can 'leak out' what are they up to?

Really fed up with Telecom and maybe the Government is to be blamed??

Are we a 'Third World' country now?
