| 536712 | 2007-03-29 03:47:00 | I've got a Samsung DVD reader/writer. Recently, it stopped being able to either read or write DVDs of any flavour, but quite happily reads & writes CDs. My instinct tells me that it should either all work or not at all, but I'm quite prepared to be corrected. Has anybody got any similar experience? Is it fixable, or just something I have to live with? |

| 536714 | 2007-03-29 06:20:00 | It's a hardware issue. Those combo-drives have 2 lenses, one for DVD and one for CD. These types of combo drives are notorious for not working on one or the other DVD or CD I have read: If your keen... You could open the drive and check that the thin film-flat cable for the heads is connected properly. Apparently they can 'work' themselves out. All you need to do is 'reseat' them. |
