| 537452 | 2007-04-01 10:32:00 | Hey guys, first up here's a rundown on my current system with my problem to follow: Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 mobo, Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 CPU, Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB S-ATAII (ST3250820AS) HDD, ATI Radeon x850XT 256MB PCI-E, Asus DVD/RW RAM drive, 2 x 512 DDR2 667Mhz PC2 5300 Memory, 550W Task PSU (new). My HDD & Memory have been playing up recently and various problems have occurred including loss of data etc over the past few weeks. My HDD & Memory were both showing errors so today I decided to reformat the system (again). Upon formatting my total partitioned + unpartitioned space shrank from 235GB to 131GB total. Is there any way to get the system to try to check the disk again and to restore the original data capacity? Any help would be much appreciated. |

| 537456 | 2007-04-01 20:29:00 | Run Memtest ATLEASET over night (longer if possible (I like to aim for 24 hours)) And Seatools What OS are you using? XP? SP1? SP2? cause IIRC XP has this problem where it can only pickup that size and partition it to that, but SP2 does not have this problem. |

| 537457 | 2007-04-01 22:58:00 | Ive been running memtest & seatools a lot... I just reformatted the system also (again again). However I was being a bit silly, as The_End_Of_Reality pointed out (and i had forgotten) XP SP0 can't recognize dicks larger than 135GB ... so when i entered a version of XP SP2 install CD the partitoned + unpartitioned space is back to normal. I'll continue my testing to be sure my system has no hardware problems but thanks in the mean time. |
