2007-03-31 13:59:00 | A little lower I flagged this program that Outlook is not working anymore. but it is even weirder. Also Windows Explorer shuts down after starting, saying it has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. If I rightclick on my recycle bin in order to clean it up, there is also a screen coming saying: Windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close..... what is wrong? i tried to reinstall outlook and on request insert the original office disk, but then it stalls saying me it is looking for file L2561412.CAB that it can't find. Help, I'm stuck, Is my windows broken ? Cheers johan

2007-03-31 14:22:00 | I had this kind of problem once with XP....and once with Vista. I reverted back to a system restore point 2 days ago, and the problem was gone. It was so persistent that I had to resort to system restore. Try that.

2007-03-31 22:50:00 | my system restore is loner ago and I feel that the mess started when I ran yesterday the update of XP repair 2007 pro, a program that cleans up registry etc. It looks from the missing cab file that I have to attempt to repair windows. Would the porblem be solved if I go out and buy Vista ???? A thing in the future I have to do anyway...... | hotkiwi (6379) | |
2007-03-31 22:55:00 | You have to be careful what programs u get to clean the registry. Some can actually make things worse. You could have used ccleaner which does the same thing. And its free.

2007-03-31 23:01:00 | Love ccleaner and use that one as well, it always frees my quite some MB and I use XP Repair, probably overkill created my problem. Good lesson. That missing cab file can probably be found on my original XP disk. Thanks Speedy, will a hijack this run give me more info about what is wrong ?

2007-03-31 23:11:00 | You can post a hjt log. I'll check it out. First Aid I think it was, I used years ago, totally killed my system. It had some kind of registry cleaner. It was crap lol.

2007-03-31 23:30:00 | Log looks ok to me, altho u can tick this entry and tick fix checked. Put HJT in its own folder first. Close browser/s. Uninstall this. Its upto 6 update 1 now. The link is in my sig. O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_11\bin\jusched.exe" - Ummm, I would say that XP Repair removed something that Outlook/Explorer uses. You could try going to add/remove programs and clicking on the change option for Office, then select the reinstall or repair option. That may fix the Outlook prob. You may have to install the updates again later.

2007-04-01 00:53:00 | Problem. Whatever repair function I try to do, it keeps asking for a file: L2561412.CAB and can not find it on the Office 2003 disk. i did a search on that disk, and that file indeed does not exist. Shall i try to convince my wife that I need the 350 bucks to go to Vista?
