537442 2007-04-01 09:40:00 Hi all.

Im on the hunt for a decent LCD Gaming monitor. Im keen for a 22" wide, and will spend around $600 - $700 MAX.

Ive been looking around and found :

www.chimei.com.tw
Which has had good reviews. But apparently ChiMei arn't the most favoured brand amongst LCD's.

Apparently going by reviews also, the Viewsonic 22" wides are pretty average.

Does anyone here game on a 22" wide ?, could someone reccomend me a brand, or somewhere to start ?, Cheers.

537443 2007-04-01 09:53:00 Dont know about the 22' but this (www.chimei.com.tw)

The 19' is on the other PC here. Its good enough for games.

Even tho its 8 ms.

And only VGA not DVI. But, it looks, and does the same thing, as the one I'm using.

537444 2007-04-01 10:07:00 Well the 22" Chimei you linked is definitely the most popular (www.pricespy.co.nz), but what about the Samsung, third on that list. I haven't seen one but it's specs don't look too shabby and price within budget. sal (67)
537445 2007-04-01 11:22:00 From my experience with Chimei / Polyview I would stay away from them.
Have seen quite a few that have developed water marks on the screen after about a year of use - Looks almost like screen burn.

I would recommend ViewSonic or Samsung

537446 2007-04-01 11:57:00 I think Dell, believe it or not have good LCD panels and great prices. SolMiester (139)
537447 2007-04-01 12:00:00 And you can't really trust the specs too well. Apparently they don't really mean much.

I like this site for screen reviews/benchmarks: http://www.behardware.com/

Ditto.

And Protac seem to spend all their time ringing PC places trying to flog their products.
They've harrassed me 3 times now.

The Dell 22' isn't that great, the Dell Ultrasharp models are awesome, but sadly Dell don't make a 22' Ultrasharp . There isn't that great of a selection of 22' models in NZ, Samsung make a good model the 225BW but I cant find anyone that sells it in NZ .

The only real option is to drop down to a 20' or up to the more expensive 24' .
