538106 2007-04-03 12:12:00 I have used Eudora for many years but now Qualcomm have stopped developing this product and I would like to have one or two improved features.
What email software to members think is simple but good?
I run Windows xp and don't plan on changing that for a couple of years, at least.

538107 2007-04-03 12:49:00 I've tried most of the mainstream clients, and it's pretty conclusive that Outlook is tops. Despite that and having it, it's not my preference... I'm hooked on Mozilla's Messenger. It's part of the Mozilla suite (latest version now known as Sea Monkey) of Internet apps, but the Thunderbird stand-alone email client is much the same, with a few more bells and whistles.

I love it for it's simplicity, reliability, resistance to nefarious germs, and how it auto loads along with my browser.

538108 2007-04-03 13:00:00 I use a stand alone (no instalation needed) email client called iscribe - 2.3mb folder on my system

www.memecode.com

Nothing fancy, but does all I want....

Scribe is a small and fast email client with an intergrated contact database and calendar. It supports all the major internet mail protocols and uses international standards where possible. Scribe doesn't required installing or uninstalled and can be used from a removable drive without reconfiguration. It comes with a bayesian spam filter and translations to many different languages. Updates are published regularly to respond to problems and to add features. Because Scribe runs on Windows and Linux you can take your mail with you when you change operating system. And don't worry about viruses, Scribe protects you from the usual security holes in other email clients with it's own virus safe HTML control and executable attachment protection.

538109 2007-04-03 21:00:00 I use Evolution. There is a windows version somewhere, but I'm unsure as to how good that is - I've never tried it.

538111 2007-04-03 21:28:00 It's all really a users preference and ease of use of the software.

Mozilla Thunderbird for me, when I use it. I usually log on manually to my webmail account and check from there.

538112 2007-04-03 22:28:00 If you want the best, loaded with features that will satisfy any tech savy geek, go for Pegasus Mail. And it is simple to use with the basics - my wife uses it so it has to be easy peasy. It is a New Zealand product also. It you want a good general email platform, use Thunderbird, but if you want the best features Pegasus is the tops.

Pegasus Mail is a free, standards-based electronic mail client suitable for use by single or multiple users on single computers or on local area networks. A proven product, it has served millions of users since it was released in 1990. It is extremely feature-rich and powerful, yet remains small and fast. Pegasus Mail gives you multiple viewing options; automated rule-based filtering and content control; MailMerge and distribution list functions; support for SMTP, POP3, IMAP4, LDAP, and PH protocols; comprehensive HTML mail generation; address books with aliasing functions; and even a spelling checker.

User Review on Download.com :
Its sheer power and flexibility is unmatched. Its got so many options its mind boggling to think that this is a freeware product. The address book is quite handy, while the filtering rules are quite a handful. And the best thing about the product is that its stable and functional. Never in my usage have I seen a bug in it.
