| 537991 | 2007-04-03 03:34:00 | I have been looking at this monitor and would appreciate any comment . A question . With the wide screen what am I going to see? That is , am I going to see a wider area . More than appears on the normal screen or is it the same picture distorted to fit the new shape . If you understand what I mean:confused: DellTM E228WFP 22" Entry Wide Screen Flat Panel LCD Monitor Entry 22" Wide Screen with Analog / Digital DVI-D (HDCP |

At least that's usually the case - I did see one laptop where the picture was stretched but I assume it just wasn't set up correctly. I find that it depends on what you do with your computer, as to whether widescreen is worth it. For browsing, email, etc, you might not notice too much difference (most websites are designed for 4x3 anyway). If you use software with lots of palettes, or where you have trouble fitting everything on screen at once, you will probably find widescreen much better. A decent widescreen will be at least 1920x1200, which is more than the one you are looking at. IMO it's worth saving up and going for the higher resolution, but it will be an extra $400 or so. The one you're looking at just seems a little bit too much of a compromise and won't give you the true beauty of a big widescreen. 1920x1200 is also big enough to accommodate the native resolution of HD video (1920x1080), giving you a very sexy video monitor. I was sold on widescreen after buying a Dell laptop with a 17" widescreen monitor. I realised I liked it more than my larger desktop monitor so I upgraded the desktop as well. Widescreen all the way for me  |
