538944 2007-04-08 02:26:00 Hi Guys
I run XP home
I used to switch on and go right to my desk top. I followed the advise of updating and now for my sins, half way on loading up my comp. freezes and asks me to click on my user name and then I have to wait before I get to my desk top.
Question: whatever it is, ‘can I get rid of it’, if so, ‘how please’?

538945 2007-04-08 02:36:00 Direct Bootup Without Typing Password

1. At a command prompt, type "control userpasswords2" and press Enter to open the Windows 2000-style User Accounts
application.
2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then
click OK.
3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name and password for the account you want to be
logged on each time you start your computer.

538949 2007-04-08 03:27:00 Delete the account ASPNET, this is created by .NET (a freakin MS bloat pest)

Do this under userr accounts in your control panel, Then click "change the way users Logon and Logoff, Disable fast user switching and disable the welcome screen, reboot and see if it logs on automagicily.

538950 2007-04-08 03:32:00 Actually, Ignore that, I have both ticked and after removing my password was able to just boot straight to my desktop.

Its the creation of teh second user account that has caused it to stop mid-boot and ask for you to select yourself, delete the secondary account and you should be fine.
