538855 2007-04-07 22:20:00 Vista Home Premium – Asus Z53Jc Notebook. Why would pictures on the slideshow screen saver start being in B&W? On starting again they revert to colour and then may go to B&W again!
Many thanks

538856 2007-04-08 03:43:00 It can't be that...

... no, it just simply can't be that.

538857 2007-04-08 12:43:00 Possible video/screen/driver fault(?), if still under warranty take it back.
Or does it only do it when (any?) screensaver running?
(Dunno wot Jameskan is on about):illogical

James - on the English-learning front, you've overdone things by using both just & simply..

Each has a similar - though not identical - meaning in your sentence, when used alone. Using both is confusing.

(Using both is just confusing - or
Using both is simply confusing -

but not - Using both is just simply confusing).

On another front ... Hmmm ... what to call it when a poster who's waited 5 hours for any reply finally gets one that's nonsense?

Edit: I've removed my last sentence, deciding it was too tough,
The relevant word, though, was manners ...

Vista fault more like.....

Or maybe there is some setting in the slideshow to make it B&W for no apparent reason.

You could try new drivers I suppose but I doubt it will do anything.

Dear Laura, thanks for the reprimand!

I was half-expecting someone to point out a grammar mistake from that post, since the structure seems a bit weird overall.

What I had intended to say earlier on was that "the poster can't be that stupid in such a way that he or she didn't realise the pictures are B & W in the first place!"

(Not being very helpful, of course)

Cheers :)

538861 2007-04-08 23:35:00 Ah, I see what James is saying. He's right. The initial photo set in Vista are B&W. Definitely a blonde moment for the poster :D sal (67)

Lost me there, sal...
I see nothing to suggest these are B/W pix, apart from a wild stab by James.
The thread starter says: "On starting again, they revert to colour."

Vista knocked on my door some time ago.
But I said I was too old to play games with adolescents who still had bad habits.

I suggested trying again once the rough edges have been knocked off.
