| 538368 | 2007-04-05 04:41:00 | Have now obtained Flash Drive fm "Ascent" that wrks in Wind98. Need some advise on some of the steps. Put CD in to load driver. Came up with pdf User Manual & 2 folders USB Flash Disk 98 Driver & USB Flash Drive Utility Followed steps to install driver. Last step on Wizard said click finish to exit set up. Then it said "replug again USB Flash Disk to activate driver." Whats replug mean??, I hope its just take out then reinsert the CD??? The other program "USB Flash Disk Utility" allows u to partion & or put security func on disk. Also can configure MS-DOS Startup disk. Well I dont think?? I need any of those. So just did basic installation (followed Wizard) and got Icon on startup. Now What??? Each time I open icon it comes up with Disk utility, and 3 tab top options Login/Logout; password; partion; As I didnt select any of those previously, theres nothing there for me to do. It wont let me into those fields even if I wanted to. In Explore I tried My Doc/then selected a folder I wanted to copy Then Edit/Select All/ Copy Then File /Send to But no Flash drive option comes up. Only A drive ( I have plugged in Drive to USB port) Under Program files the USB Flash Disk Utiliy is there but cant see USB Flash Disk 98 Driver Under Add/Remove programs both files are there. It is installed isnt it??. I did go through an installation wizard What do I do Help????? |

I would be inclined to shut down the computer and restart it after installing a device like that, too. If unplugging the USB device then plugging it in again doesn't work, I would try installing it again. |

To use it just open Windows Explorer, you should see a new drive letter, E: or F: removale dsik or some such name. Just copy and paste your stuff to it. Or from it. Simple. Don't need to do complicated send to sort of things. |

| 538371 | 2007-04-05 12:07:00 | Many tks guys. Yep found new drive down bottom of explore list. I had just thought it would come up under "send to", like the A drive option. Re the " replug", it didnt say to replug the USB unit, but to replug the USB flash disk , so thats why I thought just put CD in& put. Anyway thanks again, have transfered some works files okay. |

Flash disk = USB drive, portable drive, flash drive, etc, whatever you want to call it. CD is a CD. Besides, replug is the clue, you insert a CD, USB stuff gets plugged in. |
