539738 2007-04-10 06:02:00 Today I was playing some music and it just suddenly cut out half way through the song, nothing, including Windows has any sound at all. I've fiddled with the sound controls, removed and reinstalled drivers and made sure everything was connected properly. I do have sound now but it's very faint for some reason and I can't figure out why. I tried both the speakers and plugging headphones directly into the tower. I am running Windows XP and using onboard sound. It's a K8V-X SE mother board. final fantasy fanatic (12117)
539739 2007-04-10 06:14:00 Youre not using a voicemodem as well are you??

Go to control panel / sounds and audio devices / audio tab.

Is the default device the soundcard???

If not change it to the soundcard.

539740 2007-04-11 05:18:00 Actually I fixed it now, i'm not sure but I rolled back my updates for my realtek that come from a Microsoft update and reinstalled the drivers and it worked . So this thread can be closed now. final fantasy fanatic (12117)
539741 2007-04-13 13:45:00 Unfortunately, i'm back again. So it's happened again. I could reinstall my drivers but I have a feeling that this problem may reoccur. And there is no sound card, it's on-board, so naturally it is the default. Can anyone shed some light on why this is a reoccurring problem? The sound software that came with the board is called soundmax, when I use it's test feature it seems fine but it suffers from reduced audio noise. I really don't know what to do now except try the same fix again but I don't want to have to repeatedly do it. final fantasy fanatic (12117)
