539635 2007-04-10 01:42:00 Have a new laptop with Vista Home Premium (Norton).
It can “see” the other 2 PC’s (XP Pro – Zone Alarm) on the home network ok but no way can I get the laptop to show up on them.
Have tried most settings - nny suggestions appreciated!
Thanks

539636 2007-04-10 01:52:00 Try this update/patch (www.microsoft.com)

You'll have to have SP2 on the XP PC's.

This according to this link will let the XP PC's appear on the network map in Vista.

More info on it here (support.microsoft.com)

I take it you've added the XP PC's to Nortons if its the firewall and vice-versa.

539637 2007-04-10 03:06:00 Thanks for that – installed the file and no joy but on reading more carefully it is not the problem was trying to solve – can see the XP PC’s fine on the Vista laptop – it is the other way round where the problem is. Cannot see the Vista laptop from the XP PC’s! stuffed (1469)
539638 2007-04-10 03:40:00 And have u gone into ZA's and Norton's config and added the Vista PC etc on the network (using the network wizard, whatever it is), and vice-versa as well? Speedy Gonzales (78)
539639 2007-04-10 04:03:00 I did this about a month ago, it is a setting on vista, in networking. it says something like "show machine on network" or "unhide machine" something like that anyway. Exactly the same problem. Having not touched vista since or have a machine avaliable thats the best i can do plod (107)
539640 2007-04-10 04:11:00 Have you configured Vista to say the network is a "Public Network" or a "Private Network". One of them turns off "File and printer discovery" or something like that, which is probably what's causing the problem. somebody (208)
