539265 2007-04-09 05:16:00 I use an External Monitor -- a SyncMaster731n . I have an HP Laptop ze2000 . Well, I have to use this external monitor because the laptop monitor is extremely dark . And that was never fixed . But everything was alright for a few weeks since I've had the external monitor .

Well, I was messing around with the display setting in Properties trying to fix a fullscreen video problem . And I clicked extend desktop and applied . And for some reason the external monitor displayed my desktop image but none of the contents that I could see on my dark laptop monitor . Meaning the bar at the bottom including the Start button and etc . None of it .

So I unclicked the bar "extend desktop" and the external monitor goes blank . Oh and also my arrow on the laptop appears off and on on the external .

I can't figure out what to do . Help please!

539267 2007-04-09 07:40:00 Turn the tv out / external option off. Reset the settings / set it to its default settings.

Then reconfigure it.

If u mean u cant see anything, try booting into safe mode and fix it, or boot into safe mode and uninstall the drivers then reinstall them (thats if u can see anything on one of the screens. In safe mode).

539270 2007-04-11 11:54:00 what has happened is when you set 'extend' it put your desktop on the lappy monitor and more desktop space on the 2nd monitor.

put it on clone to put the same image on both.

aside, why have a lappy if the monitor doesn't work?
