539190 2007-04-09 03:35:00 I have windows xp installed. My problem is if If i try to boot up without the cd in the drive I get a error saying to insert system disk. Is there a way to boot XP without needing the CD? Mr Fixit (12104)
539191 2007-04-09 03:42:00 I'm guessing it says more than that.

try to tell us exactly what message you get.

Disk Boot Failure,Insert system disk and press enter
It should boot from Hard drive as I have the boot sequence set to hard drive first then cd-rom second

539193 2007-04-10 05:53:00 Sounds like that could be your problem.

Go into the bios and change it to boot from CD drive 1st and HD 2nd.

PS if it works you can leave the boot order like that... if there is no CD in the drive it just goes to boot from HD normally.

539195 2007-04-10 08:55:00 It sounds as if XP isn't installed. :D Or the booting code has been clouted. Isn't there a "repair" mode to do the equivalent of fdisk .mbr? Graham L (2)
539196 2007-04-10 08:56:00 Does ur bios detect the hdd?.
if it does, plug out the hdd and plug it in someother pc lyn around. see if it boots up the os atleast.,

539197 2007-04-10 10:31:00 ah graham if xp wasn't installed there is no way it'd boot to a windoze gui with or without any cd.... drcspy (146)
539198 2007-04-10 10:48:00 Yep, look for the simple solutions 1st I say. This message is fairly common if CD is not 1st boot in the bios (which he mentioned in his post)

Soooo... I guess there's a remote chance that changing the boot order will work
