539056 2007-04-08 22:18:00 Going to get myself a 7600GT. Only 10 years after everyone else...

Anyway, to be cheap, it's a toss up between the cheap cards, Inno3D, Legend, Point of View and Palit.

Any ideas which one is the least likely to be a total piece of ****?

or should I really not go there and just get an Asus card???

539057 2007-04-08 22:22:00 Hard to say, cos any card could potentialy have a manufacturing flaw. Asus have a great reputation, but given that your vid card will be close to obsolete before it dies means it's not a silly idea getting the best grunt for your buck and nevermind what cheapo brand you buy. 539058 2007-04-08 22:25:00 Legend is the one that sticks in my mind.

There is no statistical reason for my preference though, as far as I know they could all blow up in flames :badpc:

Hehehe . . . .

I could have sworn that my Eagle Ti4200 was going to go up in flames, I remember touching that thing would cause pain and I'm sure burns if you left your finger there for too long

Now as I recall everyone told me that card was a load of rubbish . . . and I don't doubt them!

I've already had a Powercolor and a Sparkle die with pink/red lines down the screen, should be fun to see what happens with another card manufactured by someone else I've never heard of before :D

539060 2007-04-08 23:12:00 Is that Eagle Ti4200 still running?

I just pulled my old Asus TI4200 out of a customers PC, I sold it for $80 (2nd hand obviously) many years ago. Still purrs away like a kitten.

I dropped a 7600GS into their pc, Granted its nowhere near top end but the games were stunning and performance flawless.

539061 2007-04-08 23:43:00 Personally I think all those brands are equal. But Palit does sound more attractive to me - because Palit's 7900GS, another card is very overclockable. And when I say very, I mean VERY. qazwsxokmijn (102)
539062 2007-04-09 00:31:00 I second Palit, got one of there 7600GS here and its running fine. Pete O'Neil (6584)

Legend is Palit. They rebrand them. They have a 2 year warranty which isn't bad. The failure rate is average.

I'd get an ASUS.

539064 2007-04-09 04:25:00 I have a Legend 7800 GTX, just turned a year old and all its life to date it has been on the edge of artifacting (overclocked to the max unless I volt-mod it :xmouth:)

But I am going to get an ASUS or XFX next card round... :2cents:

I would say go for the best warranty and software package :p

539065 2007-04-09 04:31:00 My vote is Palit too, they have shown themselves to be better than equivalent cards in bench testing. porkster (6331)
