| 539049 | 2007-04-08 22:15:00 | I don't think the wiki has the right answer..or perhaps I asked it incorrectly. I went to the drive manager and saw that column and just wondered what it means. I don't see it as a reported harddrive space per se, but I thought it might be something like an area that is set aside for addresses (the old BAM area?) or so.... Just wondering. |

| 539050 | 2007-04-08 22:29:00 | Overhead is all the space used up for the extra bits such as CRC bytes, directory entries, hashes, MBR, etc, etc While each bit is quite small it all adds up. It also depends on how the drive is formated. If it is formated for 4KB blocks then even a 4 byte file will take up at least KB on the hard drive. |
