Jen have they fixed wireless support in Fedora yet? Last time i used it (Fedora 6) i couldn't for the life of me get wireless to work on my laptop.

539167 2007-04-11 11:09:00 Murray - no joy. Partitioned thumb-drive Ok, and wrote system to first partition - but no matter how I try, the on-the-go file wants to write to the first partition (won't even see the 2nd one). Then because the system is using it (locked and mounted for system boot), it doesn't seem to find the onthego iso image. Could be something I've done wrong. Should work off 2 separate keys though.

Pretty sure on the Mepis community forums there has been talk of integrating both at some stage in future (ie thumb boot with onthego desktop integration). Will continue to play if I get any fresh ideas.

On the plus side - just installed PSP7 on Wine - and runs OK. A little buggy (occasional prog crash) - but lets me use something familiar for any 'must-do' jobs until I get the hang of the Gimp.

539168 2007-04-11 12:40:00 Bad luck on the thumb drive.

Jen, a wild guess here, but if Brooko were to edit fstab pointing it at the On-The-Go image, would that solve, or go some way to solving the problem. I suspect it ain't that simple.

I use PS Elements, not tried it under wine yet, but the Gimp is in a similar space to it anyway though I still prefer the former for some reason. Of course, full blown PS would be a different kettle of fish.

Pete, what's the wireless chip in your lappy? I'd put a $ on that if you were to laod up Mepis, you'd be up and running in no(ish) time.

Jen, Fedor it is then. You need to get Fedor out of your system. :D

I'll stand beside Jen for using Fedora . I tend to use it for servers

I also tend to like Slackware based distro's . Of course theres far too much choice  (Oops, there I go again :D )

539170 2007-04-12 02:32:00 Currently running Mepis 6 . 5 from a live CD and have to say that it's looking very nice - the best yet .

It doesn't seem possible to view other drives whilst using the live CD in Mepis whereas in Knoppix you can . Am I missing something?

Last time i used it (Fedora 6) i couldn't for the life of me get wireless to work on my laptop.Sorry Pete, I haven't paid any attention to wireless things because I don't have wireless here. A look around http://www.fedoraforum.org/ may answer your question. :) Jen (38)

Foxy, Mepis doesn't auto-mount partitions unnecessarily . Look to Brooko's answer .

539174 2007-04-12 12:03:00 Pix of eLive? Im presuming its e17 and not e16? Ive not used it in 6 months, not sure if much has changed

I saw it available and downloaded it approx 3 days ago (x64), bit sick of SuSE, not as fast as my x64 Gentoo system by any stretch of the imagination!

Will see about throwing it on this weekend sometime :)
