2007-04-10 03:33:00 | Hello everyone! I posted this at Techspot too but the people there were very unhelpful, I got no reply with even 50+ views. I'm hoping the people here can be a little more helpful. Google also didn't have much about this EXACT problem, just things close to it with no resolution. This started happening to me day before last, while I was in World of Warcraft. First it started off as a freeze and then I had to hard-reset my PC. I got back in and every time I tried to open a game, program, anything it would reset itself. So, I go into System and turned off the auto-restart on Fatal Error thing. Upon rebooting, I get the "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" message. After stripping the machine down card-by-card and testing the bare machine, to the full machine, nothing works. I also went into safe mode and un-installed, then re-installed my GeForce drivers. It seemed to work for a while, then started doing it again with the SAME error. So I went from thinking it was a Hardware issue, to now thinking it's a Software issue. I can run safemode for an infinite amount of time, no crashing, nothing. I've ran memory tests, scanned the disk, went and done all the usual things someone would do in this situation. I have also disabled my anti-virus to check if that was it (I had googled someone having their anti-virus messing with it.) - I also popped in my old GeForce 440 MX and got the same problems. Now whenever I try to get into Windows it finishes loading everything and then powers itself off (sort of) but the front of my PC, Power supply, and fans are all still on. It's like it turned the hard drives off. - I'm 100% sure the power supply is good, I'm 100% sure the hard drives are good (I use the master for windows, slave for files, ect.) - I've tried unplugging all the USB devices minus my keyboard, nothing is working. I was blaming my video card at first since it was the only part of my PC I bought on budget, the machine is only a couple years old. Here's my system specs: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Master Power 520w ATX Power Supply ASRock K8 Upgrade Motherboard w/ Future Port nVidia Geforce 6200 HDD 1: Maxtor 7200rpm 45gb (Windows Drive) HDD 2: Maxtor 7200rpm 200gb (File Drive) I ruled out overheating, ect. - Not sure what else it could be at this point, so I'm posting it here. I'm almost sure it's something to do with the drivers for my card, but it stopped giving me that BSOD, now it just does the weird power-off thing instead. Thanks for any help. Ok, I reinstalled windows after getting frustrated and not being able to find a way around it. The error is STILL going on but now it's a bit different. I can be in windows (not safemode) for a little while before my PC locks up completely, just freezes. Sometimes it will restart but not often, just freezes. Right after I finished installing windows it gave me a BSOD pointing to Ndis.sys (the network driver) and I fixed that problem, but now the freezing is happening again. Anyone know what this is all about? Please reply this time, the help would be appreciated. Ok so now I'm getting a lot of different errors after reinstalling windows and watching what uses what IRQ. Everything seems fine, not sure what to do at this point. I've googled a lot of problems and it doesn't seem to be my exact one. The messages are sometimes different, but they're always a "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" or "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" with one of the STOP messages of "0x0000000A", "0x0000008E", and the most common one is "0x000000D1". I've been messing with this garbage for two days can someone PLEASE at least respond? Here are the minidump files if anyone can please read through them. Thanks in advance: MINIDUMP FILES: www.audiodragon.net www.audiodragon.net www.audiodragon.net www.audiodragon.net

2007-04-10 04:31:00 | Does it show the name of any driver (now besides this ndis driver, that u fixed)? On the BSOD if youre still seeing a BSOD?? And what else is in the case, besides the videocard and hdd's/cd/dvd's? Is it only crashing with WOW or does it crash with anything now?? I dont think anyone here can read minidump files, theyre just full of gibberish. How many times have u installed the videocard drivers? And where did u get the drivers? From the CD it came with or the latest version from the Nvidia site? Have u used something like memtest to test the memory? What version of Windows are u using?

2007-04-10 04:32:00 | OK, you tested RAM and it was OK. Anyway you usually get a variety of BSODs wth faulty RAM. Its a driver error. As you say, its fine in Safe mode. Most likely you have been reinstalling the same driver. Try a newer or older version of the suspect driver.

2007-04-10 06:32:00 | Yeah, and follow the instructions on the Nvdia site exactly... I had lots of problems when I didn't get rid of ALL the Nvidia stuff and drivers before installing newer drivers. | Shortcircuit (1666) | |
2007-04-10 10:58:00 | Only other thing in there with my video card is an Ethernet Card (I also get the NDIS.sys BSOD with that sometimes. The driver name in the BSOD varies from NDIS.sys, NV4_MINI.sys, RTL8139.sys, and ATAPI.sys. Sometimes the BSOD also comes up with the same "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" issue but lists NO driver at all. I can keep it in windows for about three hours before the BSOD happens again. As far as the nVidia drivers, I've tried lots of different ones, all of them do the same thing. I also tried different video cards, same problem with both even on cards I KNEW 100% worked. I'm not sure what else it could be, I've tried everything I can think of.

2007-04-10 11:03:00 | Read the last 2 posts... make sure you get rid of ALL Nvidia drivers/programs. Download up to date drivers from Nvidia site and make sure that those drivers are installed instead of Windows re-installing the old ones. | Shortcircuit (1666) | |
2007-04-10 11:54:00 | I would UNINSTALL all versions of whatever video drivers you've installed, then get this (www.softpedia.com) Install this, boot into safe mode then run it then click on the Nvidia option then clean... (Dont select ALL the options under Nvidia, it'll delete other Nvidia drivers as well). Then install JUST the latest version of the Nvidia drivers again. Or if if u have the driver on cd (that came with the videocard) install that. Some later versions of the Nvidia drivers are crappy. They do crash. I had the same prob, when I used to have a Nvidia card. In the end I chucked it out and got an ATI videocard.

2007-04-10 22:57:00 | I'm completely sure I removed ALL the drivers. Anyhow, lastnight after fighting the crashes over and over again, I powered down my machine like I did the previous times. I go to turn it on today and fight with it some more, and now it won't let me into windows (it pops the DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD before I even get past the Windows XP loading screen.) - I can't get into safemode either, when it's loading the drivers and system files it freezes and then my PC's light stays on like the hard drive is in permanent load-time. I'm starting to think this is somehow Hard Drive failure on my window's drive. The drive is the oldest thing in there, but I'm not 100% sure if that's what it is. It grinds fairly loud. There have also been occasions yesterday where, instead of the BSOD, the computer would just power down the hard drive or reset itself. Anyone know if this could be a sign of Hard Drive failure? (I know it's not the power supply, 100% sure about that.)
