540482 2007-04-12 19:04:00 Having just read Misty's Acronis problem, I wonder what people do when they have over 8 times 500 gig to preserve?

4000 gig isn't gonna go smoothly into a small package or external b/up hdd....at least not without a lot of screaming and tantrums. :D

540483 2007-04-12 21:13:00 Why do you need to back up that much?

I have an image of C: which is small, my D: which contains everything just has docs and stuff backed up. Not the entire partition.

540485 2007-04-12 22:35:00 If you need to store terabytes of data you should be looking at using a tape library. A box of tapes could serve quite happily as a backup for that much space. You do, however, need to plan how to back up that much data quite carefully as it would be slow to do a full recovery. In 6-9 months or so blu-ray should also be an economically viable option. There was a tremendous sale of 500 gig hdds at Staples...$89.95 each, then a $50.oo rebate thru the mail....

I couldn't resist to get a few. They are Western Digitals...real nice on the rack I made.
