2007-04-12 01:56:00 | Looking to buy a new machine. The widescreen LCD's took my eye, but is there any disadvantage to these over standard format. Also, someone said they thought that Vista Ultimate did not have some of the media functions of Vista home premium - any thoughts. | Mack13 (8748) | |
2007-04-12 02:14:00 | Vista Ultimate has everything, that's why it's called Ultimate. I just got a 20" widescreen, and it is nice. Handy for 'side by side' work, where you can have one program on the left, and another on the right. Plus they are pretty cool for games, having the extra width. A lot of games might not support widescreen though, so they will either display a stretched image, or a non-stretched image, leaving black spaces on the side (so the image in the middle is standard viewsize). If you are going to be playing games with it, a decent graphics card is reccomended because the native resolution of a widescreen lcd is quite high. If you deal with a lot of text, and like bigger text, I reccomend a 22", but a 20" is fine if it doesn't bother you. I wear glasses, and have pretty bad eyes, but I don't really have any problem with a 20". 24" would be cool though, I would like that :D Or a 27", mwahahw

2007-04-12 03:28:00 | My laptop is WS and I've been using it for the last year without issue. I'm now at the point where I find a large 4:3 screen irritating and have just ordered a 20" LG WS to replace my aging 19" CRT. As far as i'm concerned I'll never by another 4:3 screen! | Pete O'Neil (6584) | |

The Dell has such a great price, I am almost tempted! 22" aren't a good buy at the moment, they all use the same cheap 6bit ChiMei TN panel and have issues with accurate colour reproduction and gaming performance. Either make the jump to the 24" Dell or consider a 20" model! |

2007-04-12 03:53:00 | Any 20" model, there are alot of quality 20" WS out there. The Dell 2007WFP reviews very very well but isnt cheap often around the $800-900 mark. The Dell E207WFP along with the E228WFP don't review particularly well, but would probably be sufficient for general desktop use. Both use 6bit TN panels and suffer from back light bleeding. Ive spent the last two weeks reading reviews and forums and other than the Dell 2007WFP the only other screen I was considering was the LG L204WT and Viewsonic VX2025WM. The Viewsonic unit reviews better than the LG but in my opinion looks like ass so i brought the LG. If you must have a 22" then the Acer AL2216W is the best of a bad bunch.

2007-04-12 04:33:00 | I got a VX2025WM... You mean the design of it looks bad? Or the image output on the screen? I think the image output looks fine. Can't really comment on the design looks of it, cause I havn't really looked at it, apart from the bit where my mouse pointer runs around.
