540280 2007-04-12 00:46:00 I need to run Maxtors Powermax to check a faulty HDD.

It seems powermax will work from pure DOS only. Trying Safe mode/ Command Prompt did not work.

Is it possible to open Win2000 in DOS?

Are there other programs that provide HDD checking/repair that do not require DOS?

I don't think its DOS so much, as you need to run the program from a boot disk, so that the HDD is not in operation when you test it.
