539997 2007-04-11 03:43:00 Ok, have just updated to Office 2007 and it has changed the dictionary in Outlook Express to French.

There is no option to change it to another language in the settings, French is the only one showing. In Publisher, Word etc, I still have English (NZ) with my customised additions for Maori etc.

Outlook Express tells me it uses the same dictionary as Word etc, but in this instance it is not the case.

Any ideas on importing an English Dictionary to OE? Idiot's guide please.

539999 2007-04-11 04:01:00 Hi Speedy-don't know if we are talking about the same thing but in XP Home edition there is a free Spell Checker For OE which can be downloaded and integrates into OE and does in fact have a dictionary which can be added to as it comes in Americanese format.

Umm yup, but I dont think there's any spell checker program or dictionary by default (When Windows is installed). You have to install some other program (like Office, or other for OE). For it to work.

540001 2007-04-11 08:02:00 Office 2007 will no longer support spell checking in OE
support.microsoft.com

You have a choice of installing one of the free spell check add-ins (third party) for OE or installing just the proofing tools from your earlier version of Office.

540002 2007-04-11 08:24:00 Open the Outlook pane, the one that shows the e-mail.

In the top RH cnr there is a block where you can enter a question such as "dictionaries". You can then work from there and find out how to apply a dictionary such as American English.

Open Word. R click Button far top left. Click Word options at bottom of that page.

Click proofing/click custom dictionary/click dictionary launguage and select the one you want.

540004 2007-04-11 08:50:00 In OE... Select Tools..... Select options...Select Spelling.... near the bottom it says Languages....Select right hand box & scroll to the Languge you want.... click Edit custom dictioary & OK....Then click main OK & that should do it. That is for the Dictioary, don't know about Spell Check PJ Poppa John (284)
