| 540625 | 2007-04-13 23:44:00 | Flash memory varies greatly with quality. All flash memory has a high failure rate but the better manufacturers set aside more spare memory to compensate for flaws. A cheap brand might only allow for 1% of the flash pages to be destroyed before the drive dies while a good one might allow 5% (I'm plucking these figures out of thin air - they're just to illustrate the point). Different brands will lead to significant differences in lifetime and integrity of stored information. Make sure your flash devices come from a reputable source if you want them for more than the next month's round of presentations. | TGoddard (7263) | ||

I got a 1GB A-Data USB flash drive from Ascent a couple of weeks ago for around $25 I think it was.I just (in the past week) got a Kingston (I believe they're a reasonable brand) 1GB flash drive for $16ish. 5 year warranty too apparently.
